Our Community Impact

Giving Tree Acres exists to ensure that families across Dallas have access to the kind of food our bodies were designed to thrive on — fresh, nutrient-dense, locally grown food.

Since launching farm operations in June 2024, our nonprofit farm has grown from a startup idea into a community food partner serving organizations across Dallas. Through regenerative farming and strong partnerships, we produce and donate pasture-raised proteins and fresh produce to organizations serving families experiencing food insecurity.

In just two years, we have donated over 12,000 pounds of healthy food and continue expanding our programs to reach more families each year.

Our work is built on a simple belief:

Healthy food should not be a luxury.

The Problem We're Addressing

Food insecurity remains a major challenge in Dallas and across Texas.

  • 1 in 6 Texans experiences food insecurity.
  • In Dallas County, nearly 1 in 5 households lacks reliable access to enough food.
  • Texas consistently ranks among the states with the highest levels of food insecurity in the country.

While many organizations work tirelessly to distribute food, much of what reaches food pantries is shelf-stable and highly processed.

For families already facing economic hardship, this often means limited access to:

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • High-quality protein
  • Nutrient-dense whole foods

The result is a cycle where communities experiencing food insecurity also face higher rates of diet-related health challenges.

Giving Tree Acres focuses on filling this gap by providing fresh, whole foods — grown locally and raised responsibly.

Our Approach

Giving Tree Acres is a nonprofit regenerative farm serving communities across the Dallas–Fort Worth region.

We produce food using regenerative agriculture practices such as:

  • rotational grazing
  • pasture-raising livestock
  • soil-building land management

These practices allow us to produce high-quality, nutrient-dense food while restoring the land.

Instead of creating a new distribution center, we partner with trusted organizations already serving families in need.

This approach allows us to focus on what we do best:
growing healthy food and delivering it where it’s needed most.

How Our Food Donation Program Works

Our Food Donation Program began in 2024 with a simple goal: increase the availability of fresh, unprocessed food within existing community food systems.

Each month we:

  1. Raise livestock and grow produce on our farm using regenerative practices
  2. Harvest and prepare donations of pasture-raised protein and seasonal produce
  3. Deliver food to nonprofit partners serving Dallas families

Through these partnerships, the food reaches families through:

  • client-choice food pantries
  • school and family programs
  • community education events
  • farm share boxes distributed through partner organizations

This model ensures that healthy food is distributed consistently, locally, and with dignity.

Our Community Partners

We will transform existing food pantries and low-income community farmstands into healthy food havens by significantly increasing the number of fresh foods stocked compared to processed ones.

Brother Bill’s Helping Hand

Brother Bill’s Helping Hand, a trusted West Dallas organization serving the community for more than 80 years.

Our regular donations of fresh produce and pasture-raised proteins increase the availability of healthy food options for shoppers in their pantry.

Together, we help ensure that families visiting the pantry have access not just to calories — but to real, nourishing food.

Momentous Institute

In 2025, Giving Tree Acres expanded its work through a partnership with Momentous Institute, which supports children and families through education, mental health services, and community programs.

Through this partnership we:

  • hosted a Family Healthy Eating Activation for parents and children
  • provided nutrition education and cooking resources
  • distributed farm-share boxes containing ingredients like grass-fed beef, eggs, and seasonal vegetables

We also donated pasture-raised protein to support the Momentous Institute summer camp program, helping ensure children had access to nutritious meals during a critical time for growth and learning.

2025 Impact

In 2025, Giving Tree Acres significantly expanded our food donations and community reach.

  • 9,798 pounds of food donated
  • Which translates to nearly 50,000 servings of protein and 4,000 servings of fruits and vegetables

This represented a 267% increase in food donations compared to 2024.

2024 Impact
During our first year of farm operations in 2024, we launched the Food Pantry Donation Program and established our first community partnerships.

That year we donated:

  • 2,700 pounds of food
  • 10,500 servings of pasture-raised protein
  • 3,700 servings of fruits and vegetables

These early donations helped establish the foundation for expanding our impact in the years ahead.

Why Local Food Matters

Graphic of three yellow tomatoes

Most food distributed through charitable food systems travels long distances and is designed for shelf stability.

By contrast, Giving Tree Acres provides:

  • locally grown produce
  • pasture-raised proteins
  • nutrient-dense whole foods

Local food systems help:

  • improve access to healthier ingredients
  • strengthen regional agriculture
  • reduce transportation and environmental impact
  • build stronger connections between communities and the land that feeds them

For families experiencing food insecurity, access to fresh food can make a meaningful difference in both health and quality of life.

  • strengthen partnerships with schools and nonprofit organizations
  • establish a permanent farm closer to Dallas to deepen community engagement

With the support of donors, volunteers, and community partners, we are building a healthier and more resilient local food system.
